Brian began his professional career with McDonald, Currie (now PriceWaterhouseCoopers) in 1960 until leaving in 1972 to head up the tax department of a smaller accounting office. He developed a large personal tax practice including corporate executives, professionals and athletes, both Canadian and U.S. taxpayers. With Kerr Financial since 2001, Brian manages a number of high net worth clients with a concentration of owner managers, doctors and lawyers and is responsible for overseeing financial plans, monitoring investment accounts, reviewing financial statements and coordinating tax compliance work.

Over the years, Brian has lent his expertise to many community organizations including Governor and Member of the Finance Committee of "Les Amis de la Montagne", Vice Chair of the Canadian Irish Studies Foundations and Board member of the Loyola Alumni High School Foundation.
